Our Design-Build Process
Consultation
Our first step is to discuss your project by phone. Since we will all be working together, finding out if we have a rapport is vital to your project’s success. If there is a mutual fit, we will schedule an initial consultation at your residence or over Zoom.
During your consultation, we refine the scope of your project, investment, timeline, and sense of style. If you’re ready to move forward, we take photos and measurements of your space and gather other necessary data to begin the design process. With this detailed info, we also provide a project estimate and discuss service fees.
Design & Development
We return to our studio to create your conceptual design, which includes preliminary sketches, a color palette, material options, and other creative ideas tailored to you, your lifestyle, and your desired investment. We also create plans, elevations, and other technical drawings needed for construction and visualizing the renovations.
We will share the design with you for approval and iterate the design until we have your full confidence in the project’s direction.
Procurement & Scheduling
Once you have approved our selections for fixtures, finishes, and materials, we will place the orders and procure them. Naturally, construction cannot begin until the necessary materials are on-site. We will use projected lead times to create a project schedule with our team and trades, which ensures that construction will move quickly when materials arrive. Efficiency is everything.
Construction Management
Construction begins, and we are on-site managing it from start to finish. As Lead Contractor, Steve organizes the entire scope of work, manages trades, and conducts routine quality-assurance checks. Whether you are living on the property or residing elsewhere, we will keep you updated on the project’s progress weekly, sometimes with video updates.
Final Installation
When construction concludes, your space needs the finishing touches to be ready for you to enjoy. This is where the final design elements come into play — window treatments, furnishings (such as barstools or a kitchen table), and the little, personal details that make the house feel like yourhome. Then, we turn it over to you. Enjoy!
